Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of the 12th Governing Council members for the Lagos State Polytechnic.
This was released in a statement signed by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri- Okunola, the Governor said the tenure of Office of the newly appointed Governing Council members would take effect from 1st August, 2020, following the expiration of the tenure of the former Governing Council.
In the same vein, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola also stated that, the tenure of Office of the Chief Executive Officer shall remain as provided in relevant Laws.

The Ag. Rector, Mr. Olumide Olusola Metilelu while noting that the Institution awaits relevant bodies’ nominations as well as members of staff representatives on Council, appreciates the appointment made by Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State Governor and assures maximum support and cooperation of the Polytechnic community to foster progressive footprints in the Polytechnic.
State Government Orders Update of all Staff Contact Information with the Polytechnic
The Lagos State Government has directed all public servants to update records of their residential addresses with their respective employer. This is as a result of the observed attitude of public servants who change their residential addresses without updating their official records accordingly, thereby frustrating official attempts to contact them when occasion demands. Consequently, it is hereby notified for general information that Officers are obligated to inform their offices and update official records in respect of any change in residential address for ease of contact when the need arise. Furthermore, any official found wanting in this matter will be held culpable and would be subjected to disciplinary proceedings as appropriate.
To this effect, all staff of the Polytechnic are mandated to update records of their
contacts and residential addresses with the Personnel Unit.
NBC Applauds LASPOTECH Radio – Setting the Pace for CSR Standard in Broadcasting
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) commended the efforts of LASPOTECH RADIO as the only campus radio that aired the NCDC social messages free of charge during the pandemic lock down.
The commendation was made by Prof Armstrong Idachaba, Director General, NBC during the unveiling of the amendment of Nigerian Broadcasting Code held on Tuesday, 4th August, 2020 at Radisson Blu Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos. In a similar vein, the Hon Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Muhammed
commended the effort of LASPOTECH RADIO and further advised the station to
keep up the good work.
LASPOTECH Initiates Commencement of Distant Learning Programmes – Engages e-Learning Education Consultant
The Polytechnic Management on the stretch of its capacity to extend qualitative technical educational services to desirous teeming population across the globe, has initiated the commencement of distance learning programmes. This was expressed by the Ag. Rector, Mr. Olumide Olusola Metilelu, during a Zoom meeting held with Directors of Academic Programmes, Deans of Schools, Heads of Departments and a renowned e-learning consultant Mr. Olugbenga Obadina, Executive Chairman/Chief Innovation
Officer, Envivo Education On Monday, 3rd August, 2020.
Mr. Olugbenga Obadina during his presentation, noted that the 21st century education system requires effective virtual classroom learning which gives equal opportunities to individuals who wish to pursue a field of study but would not be able to enroll for a physical classroom
programme. He informed that the e-learning platform will give room for continuous interactions among the students and the lecturers online; it will also allow immediate application of updated curriculum amidst other benefits. The platform will adopt the use of PowerPoint presentations, voice narration, instructional design and space narrations for teaching and learning. However, there would be arrangements for some physical interactions for programmes that require practicals. The Ag. Rector, Mr. Olumide Olusola Metilelu informed that the Director, Academic Planning has been saddled with the responsibility of presenting the proposal before NBTE for consideration and further requirements by
the Polytechnic to secure the approval of the Board.
